The Izu Peninsula is located not far from Tokyo and sticks out like Florida at a different angle. The weather there tends to be much milder than Tokyo due to ocean currents, although the middle is mountainous and stays cold even into May so be careful!, and there are a number of hot springs in the area. Izu has a number of mountains, hills and beautiful ocean scenery caused in large part to the multiple earthquakes, mostly mild, which occur on a regular basis.
